Demand for warehousing real estate in the South West shows no sign of slowing, after the latest deal at Pucklechurch Ind.est.

Family run Leivers Brothers – part of the Danish Crown Group – has signed a new 15-year lease at Ascent, the speculative warehousing and logistics development situated on the established Pucklechurch Industrial Estate in Bristol. The new premises will act as the South West distribution hub for the food wholesaler.

The seven-unit Ascent scheme delivered units between 4,300 – 20,000 sq ft, all of which are now let or under offer. It is the latest development on the popular and well established Pucklechurch estate, owned by Blackrock Industrial Trust and asset managed by Peloton Real Estate.

The 20,000 sq ft unit comprises a large warehouse with 10m high eaves and fitted office accommodation, along with a private yard area.

Leivers Brothers are set to make a significant investment in the new site to make the facility fully specified to their needs, including adding the latest CO2 refrigeration system supplied and installed by local firm, Space Engineering.

The meat specialist is also planning a phased recruitment process in the coming months that includes roles in sales, administration, warehousing and driving, with a view to creating up to 30 new jobs in the local community.

Jon Leivers, General Manager at Leivers Brothers said: “We were established in 1880 and remain a family-orientated business to this day. This investment will ensure a continuation of our personal service and excellent value products to our customers’’

Henry de Teissier, Associate at JLL, who brokered the deal said: “It’s great to see Leivers take occupation of the largest unit at Ascent as part of their UK expansion. Pucklechurch provides the business with the perfect location from which to serve their customer base in the South West market. Despite the looming economic headwinds, demand for quality industrial space in strategic locations, continues to be robust.’’

David Tyson, Director at Peloton Real Estate said: ‘’We are pleased to have signed up Leivers Brothers on the largest available unit within Ascent at Pucklechurch and look forward to working with them to create their new facility. We have seen strong demand for the whole scheme and have further asset management initiatives planned for the wider estate in the coming months.”

JLL acted in partnership with Knight Frank on behalf of Peloton Real Estate.
