Methods for preventing drug-driving are in the spotlight in an upcoming Global Fleet Champions webinar delivered by Brake, the road safety charity.

Registration is now open for Tackling drug-driving, a free online event for fleet professionals, sponsored by D.tec International.

The webinar will be broadcast from 2pm – 3pm BST on Tuesday 6 July, 2021, and attendance is encouraged for representatives from any organisation in the world that employs people who drive for work.

You can register for the event here: globalfleetchampions.org/events/tackling-drug-driving

Presentations at the webinar will cover:

  • The risk that drug-driving poses to your organisation
  • How different drugs affect driving
  • The importance of testing in the workplace
  • The policies and procedures that can help you tackle drug-driving.

The webinar will feature speakers from experts in the field of drug testing and fleet safety, including D.tec international, road safety consultant Andrew Drewary from Road Safety Smart, and Lesley O’Brien, partner at Freight Link Europe.

Scott Williams, head of programme delivery at Brake, the road safety charity, said: “Drivers who are impaired by drugs, whether illegal or prescription, are never fit to be in control of a vehicle. Any drug-driver presents a serious risk to your fleet’s safety and reputation, and is a danger to other road users. Robust drug policies and procedures are vital for ensuring all your employees are safe to be behind the wheel.”

Ean Lewin, Managing Director at D.tec International added: “We’re delighted to sponsor this Global Fleet Champions webinar on such an important issue. Society and employers now realise that drink driving is dangerous and unacceptable, however as a nation we need to realise that drug driving is worse and act now. We would advise all Fleet Professionals to consider the sufficiency of their current Drug and Alcohol process and how it protects both the company and individuals from potential prosecution. Join us for a stimulating discussion on the prevalence of drug driving within our society and the dangers this poses.”
