Warehousing availability continues to fall UK wide with West Midlands the worst affected region

New data has revealed a significant shortfall in warehousing space UK wide despite 12.7 million sq ft of speculative space having already been delivered or due for completion later this year.

With both staff and space at a premium around the country, Kingswinford-based Midland Pallet Trucks, a provider of high-quality lifting equipment including pallet trucks, manual stacker trucks and lift tables is on hand to support warehousing staff and managers work more efficiently without compromising on safety.

According to research carried out by members of the logistics sector, overall UK wide availability has fallen year on year by 18% during quarter 1 and sits 11% below the long-term average. In terms of regional impact, Yorkshire and the North West are experiencing a 30% reduction on year on year space availability, but it is the central UK that fares the worst with the West Midlands currently experiencing a 40% decrease.

A logistics hotspot, several large warehousing hotspots exist in the West Midlands region thanks to excellent transport links that connect the heartland to the rest of the UK, warehousing and employees from Derbyshire, Leicestershire and surrounding areas are just as in demand in the region as warehousing space, with hundreds of vacancies in the sector yet to be filled.

As a West Midlands based business itself, Midland Pallet Trucks has continually expanded its product line and in-stock inventory, to help those struggling to meet higher than normal productivity targets obtain easy access to high quality, cost-effective and robust materials handling equipment.

It has set up a collection service from its Kingswinford site to reduce shipping costs and downtime should old equipment require replacement or repair.

“Warehousing managers in the heartlands are under more pressure to hit productivity targets than ever before due to increased demand, but this shouldn’t come at a cost of employee health and wellbeing," said Phil Chesworth, Managing Director of Midland Pallet Trucks.

“Our aim is to ensure that these logistics and warehousing hubs have access to high-quality lift equipment quickly, so we are offering an instant order and collection service to help support staff and help warehousing managers to keep up with their targets without risking the health of staff in the process.”

With a wide range of equipment available for same-day collection, orders can be placed via the Midland Pallet Trucks website or by contacting the sales team directly on 01384 841440.
