New data has revealed a significant shortfall in warehousing space UK wide despite 12.7 million sq ft of speculative space having already been delivered or due for completion later this year.

According to research carried out by members of the logistics sector, overall UK wide availability has fallen year on year by 18% during quarter 1 and sits 11% below the long-term average. In terms of regional impact, Yorkshire and the North West are experiencing a 30% reduction on year on year space availability, but it is the central UK that fares the worst with the West Midlands currently experiencing a 40% decrease.
A logistics hotspot, several large warehousing hotspots exist in the West Midlands region thanks to excellent transport links that connect the heartland to the rest of the UK, warehousing and employees from Derbyshire, Leicestershire and surrounding areas are just as in demand in the region as warehousing space, with hundreds of vacancies in the sector yet to be filled.
