LIGNIA Wood Company, the modified timber specialists, has signed a distribution agreement with Italian timber experts Bellotti Spa, who will be distributing LIGNIA and LIGNIA Yacht products to the Italian and Swiss markets.

The agreement was signed in Amsterdam at METSTRADE, the leading trade yachting show, where both companies were exhibiting their product ranges. There were further celebrations at the show when LIGNIA won a major DAME Design Award for its LIGNIA Yacht wood deck product that is now being used on boats around the world instead of endangered teak.

Bellotti was established in 1927 and is a leading manufacturer of specialist timber with strong connections to the Italian superyacht industry. The agreement signed is a non-exclusive distribution agreement to market and sell LIGNIA wood into the construction sector along with LIGNIA Yacht into the marine world.

LIGNIA Wood Company produces modified timber at its base in Barry, Wales. It uses real softwood from responsibly sourced FSC® certified plantations which is then modified through a unique process. This gives LIGNIA the beauty, performance and appearance of popular hardwoods.

Hans Ng, CEO of LIGNIA Wood Company said: “We are delighted to welcome Bellotti to our select list of distributor partners. Italy is very important to us in both construction and the yacht world and Bellotti has many connections, especially with superyacht brands. They’re also very innovative and their technical capabilities are a great match for our ambitions. We’ve had a successful show at METSTRADE, especially winning a prestigious DAME Design Award, and signing with Bellotti at METSTRADE gives us a real presence in new important markets.”

Pietro Bellotti, CEO of Bellotti added: ‘We are pleased to be working with LIGNIA and to be supplying their modified wood products to our chosen markets in Italy and Switzerland. Our business is always looking for new technologies and innovations and we are sure this will be a great partnership.”
