Commercial vehicle body & trailer manufacturer the Cartwright Group has added another award to its trophy cabinet with a top accolade at the M.E.N Business of the Year 2018 Awards.

The Altrincham-based company, now celebrating its 66th year in business, won the Barclays Judges Choice award at the event organised by the Manchester Evening News. The award goes to a business that has made a wider contribution to the North West region as well as having a strong financial performance in the past 12 months. News presenter Nicholas Owen hosted the glittering gala dinner at Manchester’s Principal Hotel which was attended by more than 350 guests.

Citing their reasons why Cartwright is impressive, judges said: “This company has expanded operations beyond its manufacturing roots delivering record growth – reflecting its hard-working staff and a committed senior management team. “This is a business that is built on great foundations, quality products and people.”

Mark Cartwright, Group Managing Director, said: “I am delighted that the judges recognised the important role Cartwright has played in helping to sustain Britain’s proud manufacturing heritage and our ongoing commitment to engineering excellence, innovation and growth.

“I would also like to thank all our staff for their dedication and loyalty which has helped Cartwright to grow to become a leader in its field.” The second-largest trailer manufacturer in the UK, Cartwright has gone from strength to strength in recent years. Today its turnover exceeds £145 million, and employs more than 1,000 people and operates an award-winning apprenticeship scheme.

The Cartwright Group is a diverse business which not only offers body and trailer manufacturing, but also fleet services, rental, finance, conversions and more recently aircraft ground support equipment at locations across the UK.

Under the slogan “Better: Built in Britain” it flies the flag for the UK across the globe, exporting to Europe, the Middle East, South America and Australia.
