Rhenus expands its air and sea freight network in Germany

Continued growth at one of Europe’s leading freight forwarding specialists, Rhenus Group, has seen it open two new air and ocean offices in Hanover and Dortmund.

The new business sites will reach the urban regions of Hanover, Braunschweig, Göttingen, Wolfsburg and Rhine-Ruhr.

The new offices provide a range of international transport services, while also handling guidance for import and export regulations. Rhenus customers are also able to make use of combined services in the air and sea freight sectors.

Tobias Bartz, a member of the Rhenus Board, commented: “The German market is strategically important for us. Industry and commerce in the form of the automotive sector and the chemical industry, for example, are very strong here. Germany not only has a central geographical location in Europe, but is an attractive business proposition with its good infrastructure and international trading contacts.”

With a combined population of 3.8 million, the Hanover, Braunschweig, Göttingen and Wolfsburg urban regions are vital for the services and manufacturing industry. The Rhine-Ruhr urban region, one of the largest in Europe, has a population of over 10 million and is the base for both large and medium-sized corporations.

The primary focus at Rhenus Air & Ocean in Germany is the routes to America and Asia. Its key locations are the two gateways at Hilden and Frankfurt, which will support the two new office sites. Rhenus air and ocean currently operates 13 business sites in Germany with further expansions in motion to establish additional German branches.
