Breakbulk Events & Media has announced its support of the Project Cargo Summit, 12-13 Sept. 2018, at the Port of Rotterdam. The summit targets the northern European market, and its important role in the flow of oversized cargoes into and out of this region.

The Port of Rotterdam and its tenants have long participated in Breakbulk Europe, as well as Breakbulk Americas, and remain key exhibitors in the upcoming editions of both events. While Breakbulk has concentrated solely on its own events in the past, Breakbulk's new portfolio director Nick Davison, felt the time was right to support Rotterdam's regional event.

"With the long-term support of customers such as the Port of Rotterdam, coupled with the success of Breakbulk Europe, I believe it's time to support local events," Davison said. "I see our organization as the global friend to all things Breakbulk."

Davison also said the port's leadership values align well with those of Breakbulk Events & Media. Both are vocal advocates of the power of face-to-face networking and share a culture of innovation.

"Innovation culture is very adaptive," Marjolein Boer, Innovation Manager with the Port of Rotterdam Authority told Breakbulk. "It is open to and ready to act on new information all the time. It's about learning and evolving, approaching projects iteratively rather than in a linear fashion."

Davison couldn't agree more. He is constantly asking his customers, "How can we make a better experience for you?" and adjusting the Breakbulk format to respond to what he hears. Davison is confident that Breakbulk's participation in the Project Cargo Summit will lead to further innovation for his events.

"A global people-based company cannot work in an echo chamber," Davison said. "It is essential to be an active participant in the industry, starting with compatible events in key shipping hubs, such as Rotterdam's Project Cargo Summit."

Project Cargo Summit will take place over two days in September at RDM Onderzeebootloods, a historical, industrial setting in the heart of the Port of Rotterdam. Along with conference sessions and workshops around topics such as inland shipping, cybersecurity and Incoterms, the event also includes a visit to the adjacent RAMLAB where the first 3D metal printers for the maritime industry are located.

Breakbulk Events & Media will sponsor a drinks reception at the end of the first day’s program and will be located in Stand 4101. Exhibition tickets are available for free to Breakbulk customers (public price is €75). To order tickets, please visit breakbulk.com/rotterdam-special
