XPO Logistics, the global provider of transport and logistics solutions, has been awarded a multi-million-pound contract by Wavin to manage its UK transport operations.
Wavin is a subsidiary of the Mexichem Organisation, a global manufacturer of plastic pipe systems and solutions. The company has multiple manufacturing sites in the UK.
XPO has developed a customised delivery solution for Wavin that manages the company's extensive UK routes to market as a single, integrated network. Capabilities include end-to-end transport visibility, the agility to respond to changes in volume, and the scalability to adapt to future demand. The solution is designed to support Wavin's growth strategy and its status as a leader in a competitive marketplace.
XPO will manage the delivery of product to merchants and construction projects from Wavin's manufacturing sites in Chippenham, Doncaster and Hazelhead. Transport services will also operate from XPO's site in Motherwell, Scotland. In addition to dedicated fleet and broad network support, XPO will deploy its KeyPL solution to manage complex transport flows and utilise cutting-edge technology to assist with load optimisation, cost control and continuous process improvement.
Andrew Crosby, European procurement lead at Wavin, said: "We see XPO's ability to handle our transport requirements within its own network as a key benefit; it gives us reassurance that our customers will receive a consistent delivery experience. XPO's comprehensive capacity within the UK and across Europe offers many potential advantages should we wish to scale up. We are delighted to be working together and I'm pleased to say that the transition to date has been completely seamless."
Luis Gomez, managing director-transport, XPO Logistics Europe, said: "We're proud to be selected to support a brand that has become synonymous with quality in the construction sector. Wavin was looking for an efficient delivery partner that could provide multiple services under one umbrella. Our nationwide solution is designed to deliver significant efficiencies for Wavin in their UK operations."
