Global fleet safety and mobility management leader Geotab has become the latest company to sign-up to ICFM's Corporate Investor Programme.

The company, which provides open platform fleet management solutions to businesses of all sizes to help better manage drivers and vehicles by extracting accurate and actionable intelligence from real-time and historical trips data, becomes the first telematics specialist to join the Programme.

Geotab recently opened its first UK office at Silverstone Innovation Centre, Northamptonshire, and is already working with a number of UK fleets - large and small - to deliver improved driver safety, intelligent vehicle reporting and fleet cost reduction.

The company works with some of the world's largest fleets, industry bodies, automotive associations, safety campaigns and OEMS across North America, Europe and UK to promote the development of strategic roadmaps. That allows clients to deliver best practices, and create awareness of risk and sustainability. Geotab collects more than two billion data points per day from more than 860,000 connected vehicles in more than 100 countries.

Geotab, like other recent recruits to the initiative including Auto Windscreens, Michelin, SG Fleet, Thrifty Car & Van Rental and Ambit, has joined at Affiliate Investor level, which enables the organisation to participate in ICFM events and gain access to the organisation's vast wealth of resources.

The company said that joining ICFM as a Corporate Investor was the next logical step as it continued to provide fleet managers with access to vehicle data, driver behaviour and information on industry best practices around compliance, safety and environmental awareness.

By identifying industry trends and supporting the development of new skills through education and training programmes, Geotab acknowledged that ICFM would benefit its customers by providing industry knowledge and resources on business-critical topics. The partnership, said Geotab, would also increase its exposure at networking and training events with key fleet managers.

Designed to appeal to employers that provide products and services to fleets, ICFM's Corporate Investor Programme is in addition to its long-established three levels of individual membership.

The aim of the Corporate Investor Programme is to further raise the standards of fleet industry professionals and overcome a possible skills and knowledge shortage inside many employers. Additionally, member businesses also become more closely involved in ICFM initiatives, which include training for employees, the organisation's annual conference and Masterclasses on key industry issues.

Geotab's European vice president Edward Kulperger said: "As an industry-leading developer of fleet management technologies and vehicle generated data, we recognise our role and the role of the data in improving driver safety and protecting the environment. Geotab technology helps our clients and partners to better protect their drivers and build a 'green' economy in the UK and around the world.

"We are proud to join ICFM and look forward to contributing to discussions on health, safety and sustainability. We are excited to share our experience of how telematics technology can solve the day-to-day challenges of fleet management and benefit the wider industry."

ICFM sales director Peter Eldridge said: "We are delighted that another well-known fleet industry supplier in Geotab, has recognised the value that ICFM can deliver through the Corporate Investor Programme and joined at Affiliate level.

"We hope that many other businesses will clearly see the value for money benefits of membership and the training and learning opportunities available and then enrol their employees in the various courses and attend our events, whether that be the ICFM's annual conference or its Masterclasses tackling key fleet decision-maker issues.

"Investment in ICFM adds credibility and value to businesses and their employees and provides an invaluable network of contacts and benefits."

Background information

ICFM's Corporate Investor Programme provides employers with four levels of membership tailored to employee numbers and specific employer requirements:

  • Affiliate Investor - for businesses that have no immediate requirement for staff engagement as members of ICFM, but recognise the benefits of association. A range of added value benefits are available, including the ability to prominently display ICFM membership and attend and participate in the organisation's events including the annual Conference as well as seminars so as to understand key industry issues. Affiliate Investor membership is £1,000 for 12 months.
  • Corporate Investor - targeted at businesses employing 10-50 people engaged in fleet-related activity. The benefits are similar to that for Affiliate Investors. Corporate membership is available in blocks of 10 at £50 per employee with a minimum charge of £500 for 12 months membership.
  • Tailored Corporate Investor - targeted at businesses employing more than 50 people engaged in fleet-related activity. The cost is bespoke to individual organisations based on the number of employees to be included. The benefits are similar to that for Affiliate Investors and, additionally, entitle an exhibition stand at the ICFM Annual Conference.
  • Tailored Corporate Investor Plus - provides an increased level of support to Tailored Corporate Investor membership via a consultancy service geared to analysing, assessing and accrediting organisation's internal training processes and procedures specifically involving the fleet operation. ICFM will work in tandem with an employer's own internal trainers and offer those individuals Associate Member status at no additional cost. The cost is on application.
