DSV adds 50 new trucks to its expanding UK fleet

DSV UK has, in conjunction with their partner General Express Services Limited, invested in 50 new rigid 7.5 and 18.0 ton Volvo's to add to its UK fleet. Whilst the majority of these vehicles will replace the existing fleet, overall, the total number of vehicles based in Purfleet will increase by 6 as a result of the growing volume of business in the domestic market.

The new vehicles, which will be based in Purfleet, will primarily service customers in London and the South East. All the vehicles are fitted with tail lifts and have the latest Euro 6 engines, ensuring they minimise impact on the environment and are compliant with London's emission zone regulations. The new 18.0-ton vehicles, which are all Volvo, also come fully loaded with the newest safety features to protect DSV's drivers and other road users.

Nick Trencher, DSV Divisional General Manager UK Domestic, commented on the acquisition: "We are extremely pleased with our investment. Nationally we now have 250 vehicles, increasing up to 300 at peak periods with 7.5 ton and 18.0 ton units making up the majority of the fleet. These new vehicles ensure we have the latest model fuel-efficient, emission compliant vehicles and provide total reliability, which can service fast growing volumes. Most of the trucks are now on the road and we will continue to add new vehicles to the fleet until September."

To enhance the operational efficiencies, the entire DSV UK fleet also now has brand new PDA equipment with improved touchscreen functionally which will monitor and record live time collection and delivery.

Nick explained: "The new PDA technology is key to DSV being able to deliver comprehensive data and communications and a fast and efficient service for all our customers across the UK. "
