Luis Zubialde, Chief Operating Officer for the Palletways Group, has received official recognition for his significant contribution to the Spanish logistics industry.

The Premio Admira 2016, in memory of Spanish journalist Andrés Mira Domenech, was presented to Luis at an award ceremony in Madrid by a group of logistics and transport communication professionals alongside Andrés's widow, Virginia López.

Luis, who hails from Navarre in northern Spain and now lives in the UK, began his career in the oil and gas industry with Total in Madrid before embarking on a career in logistics. He subsequently spent seven years at logistics operator Fiege as CEO before joining Palletways Iberia as MD. During this time he led a strong growth and development strategy which took the company from a new start-up operation to a well-established and successful network. Luis then moved to the UK in April 2014 to become MD of Palletways UK, the company's largest business unit, before taking over as Chief Operating Officer in summer 2016, with responsibility for all Palletways' countries Europe-wide. His experience and business understanding of the different European networks will be critical in driving Palletways' strategy to grow its volumes throughout the European countries where it operates.

Commenting on his win, Luis said: "I'm humbled to have been recognised by this group of distinguished representatives from different media groups within the industry. I am proud to receive this coveted award in front of so many of my peers for contributions to the Spanish logistics industry."

The annual Premio Admira– which also means the 'Admire Award' in Spanish – was launched by a group of industry journalists linked to the logistics and transport sector as a tribute to and in memory of Andrés Mira Domenech. The Award aims to recognise the knowledge and professional achievements of professionals in the logistics and transport industry in Spain.

Andrés Mira, the journalist who was director of the Spanish title Operadores Logísticos and Cruises News, died in August 2012.
