Sovereign Transport in Knowsley has ploughed £2m into a new bespoke built depot to help meet the growing demand for palletised freight services across the region.

The firm, part of Palletways, Europe's largest and fastest growing express palletised freight network, has relocated its 55 staff and 30-strong fleet to four-acre site at Knowsley Industrial Park. The new premises will help staff process in excess of 25,000 pallets per month with plans to increase monthly volumes by almost 9,000 pallets in 2017.

Sovereign Transport is enjoying phenomenal success having being shortlisted for the Knowsley Business and Regeneration Awards and recently winning the Volume Growth Sales Award 2016 at Palletways' annual sales conference. Stephen Radcliffe, managing director said: "The move into new premises comes on the back of increasing demand for freight services in the region along with significant growth plans for the depot and Palletways network. We're confident that our new facility will help us to continue to deliver a first class logistics service this year and for many more to come."

Founded in 1999, Sovereign Transport Services began life in Liverpool with one vehicle, since then their pallet deliveries have grown from 20 pallets a day to over a 250,000 pallets a year. As founding members, Sovereign Transport has worked with Palletways for 16 years to provide its customers with access to the largest palletised distribution network in Europe. Sovereign Transport, which is ISO9001 and ISO 14001 accredited, is committed to conservation of the environment and operates within a 'green' haulage policy, carefully planning collections and deliveries for the optimisation of load efficiency and the reduction of road miles.
