Palletways, the European express palletised freight network, has bolstered its services in Europe with the unveiling of three new international hubs in Southern Europe.

The Group has launched a new regional hub in Montpellier, in the South of France, upgrading services from the existing hub in Paris, and has invested in expansions to its regional facilities in Zaragoza, Spain, and Milan, Italy, to handle international consignments.

Palletways has invested significantly in this new infrastructure, which will enhance operational efficiencies and reduce transit times across the 20 European countries it delivers to. More specifically, the new hubs will offer customers:

  • Significantly improved services to and from the South of France as well as a new faster premium service to urban areas in Northern France
  • Improved visibility of consignments throughout France
  • Daily connections between Italy and Spain
  • Improved international services to and from areas around Barcelona and Milan

Rachael Alpha, Managing Director at Palletways GmbH, said: "The establishment of three new international hubs in the region, which can manage in-bound and outbound volumes across our pan European network faster and more efficiently than before, will present significant growth opportunities for the Group. The expansion reinforces our position as the clear no.1 palletised freight network in Europe.

"The new hubs will be supported by our pan-European IT platform and central customer service operation in Madrid to ensure we provide the best possible customer experience."

James Wilson, Palletways Group Chief Executive, added: "Our European network has experienced significant and continuous growth over the last decade, which has enabled us to grow organically. This year alone we've added six new countries to our network, including Poland, Romania, Bulgaria and the Baltics. We are also investing in award winning IT systems and enhanced infrastructure to offer the best service possible for our members and customers."

The developments in Southern Europe are part of a major hub investment programme by the Group. The company recently unveiled a second terminal at its National Hub in the UK which has expanded capacity by 8,000 pallets a day. Work has also just begun on a €10m investment in a new hub operation in Central Germany which will triple delivery capacity in the region.

The Palletways Group network now comprises more than 400 depots and 13 hub operations across 20 European countries. Last year, it invested some €1.4m in the pan European network which helped achieve a record year for cross border volumes, and these are predicted to rise by another 50% this year.
