Totalkare, provider of heavy-duty vehicle lifts, has delivered what it describes as the ideal lifting solution for a company specialising in the repair, refurbishment and maintenance of 'bendy' buses and airport transport vehicles.

Guthrie Engineering Services took delivery of a new set of six Totalkare cable-free lifts shortly after opening its Bishop's Stortford workshop earlier this year to meet growing demand for its specialist services.

The company's Managing Director, Daniel Guthrie, says the unrivalled flexibility of the lifts has played a crucial role in its ongoing success.

"Since the business was founded in 2010, we've built our reputation on our ability to support operators of more unusual or specialist passenger vehicles; as well as our ability to provide specialist labour for repairing major components such as bus and coach engines and gearboxes for major national operators such as Stagecoach, National Express and Arriva," said Daniel.

"Originally we delivered a mobile service from our bases in Kent, but the new workshop was an essential part of our plans to meet growing demand for our specialist engineering services from mainstream coach and bus operators as well as a number of major airports. Once we found suitable premises, it was then vital we equipped the workshop with equipment that matched our own operations, both in the terms of flexibility and reliability."

The Totalkare 6cf lifts in operation at the workshop are in constant use; and as they are both mobile and cable-free they can be positioned to best fit the profile of the bendy buses inside the workshop, maximising the available work space to increase efficiency.

"Vehicles are in and out of the workshop, but some projects can take several weeks to complete, so it is vital that we make best use of the space we have," Daniel explained. "The new lifts enable us to do this, and the lack of cables means there is less risk of trips or falls.

"We've also been very impressed by their reliability, and haven't had a single problem since they were installed. What's more, the flexibility of the lifts enables our engine and major component re-building department to work faster more productively."

Tristan Johnston, Marketing Manager at Totalkare, said the endorsement from Guthrie is typical of the feedback from operators of the 6cf lifts.

"These cable-free lifts have become our bestsellers as they are able to lift a wide range of vehicles thanks to their 7.5 tonne per column capacity and their ability to be used in any configuration," Tristan said.

"We are delighted that Guthrie Engineering Services have become one of the latest coach and bus support companies to benefit from our products and look forward to working with them as they continue to expand."
