Hansa Heavy Lift has been recognised with a DNV GL Excellence - Five Stars Award for the high quality of its management systems.

The heavy lift and project shipping company, which is one of only nine lines to be recognised in this way, was presented with the certificate by DNV GL at a ceremony at its Hamburg headquarters last week.

The award was given for the quality of its management systems including ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environment), BS OHSAS 18001 (Health and Safety) and ISM (International Safety Management) / ISPS (International Ship and Port Facility Security) Code.

"Hansa Heavy Lift considers these systems and standards to be integral to our business principals and we are proud to have been recognized in this way," said Steve Dawson, Director of Ship Management, Hansa Heavy Lift.

"The systems are a reflection of our professionalism which ensures our clients achieve their project and transportation goals."

The DNV GL Excellence - Five Stars Certificate provides independent third-party proof of a voluntary commitment to continuous improvement of quality, sustainability, safety, security and social responsibility standards.

"Our six-step process and our attention to detail are at the heart of our service," said Roger Iliffe, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Hansa Heavy Lift.

"This award recognises our commitment to our customers and the dedication of our expert staff and we look forward to continuing to excel at delivering the best possible service."

As part of the certification process, Hansa Heavy Lift had to fulfil a set of requirements in at least ten categories including management systems, safety and security, environment and efficiency and operation and comfort.

External auditors gave marks to Hansa Heavy Lift for maintaining good records of port state control inspections, the use of DNV GL's Emergency Response Service for its fleet, an advanced internal training scheme and holding practical exercises for emergency and crisis management.
