Palletised freight network Palletforce has signed a contract for up to 100 new forklifts to be used at its hubs in Burton-upon-Trent.

The pan-European distribution network is taking delivery of a fleet of Toyota Tonero 8FGF25 gas-powered forklifts after forming a strong partnership with Toyota Material Handling UK.

John Hamill, Operations Director of Palletforce, said: "This new fleet is part of a comprehensive investment programme to ensure Palletforce continues to give its Members access to the best, high quality equipment, support and facilities.

"We chose to invest with Toyota Material Handling UK because they share the same high values as ourselves in terms of quality, efficiency and reliability."

The new trucks have a load capacity of 2,500kg, a 4-metre duplex mast and have enhanced safety and durability features.

In addition, Palletforce has chosen to use Toyota's unique and innovative site fleet management system. Each of the forklift trucks is fitted with TWIS (Toyota Wireless Information System) which records real-time information from the truck. The information can then be accessed through the web and features a simple dashboard to enable Palletforce to see the fleet performance.

Andy Duffield, Strategic Manager for Toyota Material Handling UK, said: "Over the last four years, we have developed a strong partnership with Palletforce to deliver a solution that includes quality forklift trucks, reliable service support and innovative fleet management.

"By working closely together with Palletforce, we have been able to understand the demands of their operation and provide a tailored package, including options packages to help improve safety and durability and short-term hire trucks to support them during their peak periods. As companies we both strive to deliver high quality service to our customers and it is this common goal that has driven forward the partnership."

The development of the relationship with Palletforce has recently led to trucks being provided to two Palletforce members located in Croydon and Carlisle.
