A Graphic Design student from Uxbridge College has won a national competition to design a new livery for a Hellmann Worldwide Logistics UK vehicle. Steven O'Neil's design was chosen out of over 180 that were entered and his innovative idea has now been put into use on a Hellmann trailer. Along with an array of prizes that were awarded to Steven, Uxbridge College received £1,500 of vouchers to be put towards graphic design equipment and software, as part of the competition Over 180 entries were sent in by graphic design and art students from across the UK who were completing their 'A' or 'AS' Levels or equivalent qualifications.

The top ten entries were then chosen, with Hellmann UK's Board of Directors selecting the winning design. O'Neil won a brand new Hewlett Packard laptop, a £100 retail voucher as well as a bumper Hellmann goody bag and a reference on his CV, whilst Uxbridge College was awarded £1,500 of graphic design equipment vouchers

Steven O'Neil commented: "It was a great achievement for me to win the national competition and it gave me such a big self-confidence boost as a student and upcoming graphic designer. The process took a number of weeks from start to finish, a lot of which involved research into Hellmann Worldwide Logistics and its competitors in the market. I found a way of incorporating Hellmann's iconic geese symbol into a design that represents movement, standing out on the side of its road freight vehicle, and it was amazing to see my design on the trailer."

Matthew Marriott, Commercial Director of Hellmann Worldwide Logistics UK, added: "We were all very impressed with the creativity and flair of Steven's design and think it looks fantastic brought to life on the vehicle. This competition was a great way for us to engage with the community and allow students to get creative whilst learning about the logistics industry. I was thrilled with how many entries came in and how young people interpreted the brand in different and interesting ways."

Shernette Daly, Graphic Design Lecturer at Uxbridge College, said: "It is really exciting to see Steven's design appearing on a Hellmann Worldwide Logistics' lorry. With so many educational institutions in the competition, the results are a real triumph for the college, particularly as two other students, Calyne Domhani and Keenan Sutherland, were chosen as runners-up. The competition provided an opportunity and experience for the students to create a professional piece to a live brief. Steven's is a striking design which will stand out from its competitors and I will definitely be keeping my eyes open on the motorway."
