The achievements of Amy Coltman, an apprentice engineer for Knapp, have been recognised in the Leicester College Apprenticeship Awards.

Amy – who works as part of the Customer Service team of resident engineers at the site of Knapp client, British Gas, in Leicester – achieved the Bronze Award for 'Outstanding Newcomer' of 2014. Amy, 21, received the prize at a special ceremony held recently to recognise the achievements of apprentices from Leicester College – the largest apprenticeships training provider in Leicestershire – in a wide range of disciplines.

Supported by members of her family and also Roy Cheevers, Knapp UK's Site Engineering Manager at the British Gas NDC, Amy was presented with a certificate and an etched glass trophy. Guests at the event, held at the college, also enjoyed a three-course meal prepared by catering students.

Commented Roy Cheevers, "We nominated Amy because she has excelled in all areas of her apprenticeship. She has an outstanding work ethic, meticulous attention to detail and excellent personal skills. She is constantly coming up with innovative ideas to improve the site for the customer, one of which is being used in a project as part of her studies. She is a real asset to both Knapp and British Gas," continued Roy Cheevers, "and is a shining example of the contribution that female engineers can make to what is still a male-dominated industry."
