CILT UK announces President-Elect

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport has announced the appointment of supply chain professional Jim Spittle FCILT as UK President-Elect.  Jim Spittle will assume the one-year role from current President Jim Steer when he passes the honour at an inauguration lunch to be held on 16 May.

Commenting on his appointment, CILT's current President, Jim Steer said: "I'm delighted that Jim Spittle has accepted our invitation to become the Institute's President-Elect. His appointment comes at a critical time as the UK economy continues to move out of recession; and I know Jim will continue to focus on our work emphasising the essential contribution that logistics and transport is making to the economic recovery of our country'

Jim Spittle said: "The CILT plays a vital part in developing personal and professional excellence in the logistics and transport sectors by encouraging the development of leading-edge thinking and best practice.  I am honoured to be President for the coming year."

Jim Spittle is one of the country's leading authorities on global supply chains. He is Chairman of GS1, which develops and implements international data standards, and an Advisory Board Member of both de Poel and Cranfield University's Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management, where he is also an external examiner for its MSc in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. He was previously Group Supply Chain Director for DSG International, Whitbread and Kingfisher, and a Director of Tesco plc.
