Acumen 'one of most inspirational British firms'

It's a double celebration for Acumen Logistics Group. Not only is the company celebrating its 10th anniversary since acquisition but has also just been listed in the London Stock Exchange Group's '1000 Companies to Inspire Britain' – a landmark report which profiles some of the UK's most exciting and dynamic small and medium-sized enterprises (SME's).

Compiled over a six month period, the report undertook a wide-ranging review of 4.5 million private companies in the UK in order to find what the CBI terms the 'gazelle' companies most responsible for driving economic growth. To be included in the report businesses had to be at least three years old, based in the UK and with a turnover of between £6 million and £250 million over the past 12 months.  Companies also had to show that revenue had grown over the last four years and that they had either increased the number of employees, size of the workspace, won more contracts or expanded the number of new patents.

Acumen Logistics Group more than fulfilled these criteria.  For more than 10 years, it has provided cost-effective and a diverse range of services for both the Automotive Industry and Local Authorities. During a period when many transport and logistics companies have been facing some of their toughest challenges, Acumen has not only held its own but has continued to expand becoming one of the UK's fastest growing logistics' providers.  Today, the Acumen Group has turnover in excess of £25million, 175 employees and has expanded into finished vehicle logistics,warehousing and waste management.

More than 100 industry sectors are represented in the league table including architecture, banking, retail, construction, wine and transportation.  The report's research showed that it is primarily SME's that have generated new, net job creation in the UK since the financial crisis.
