New £1 million fleet for Meachers

Meachers Global Logistics, the UK independent providers of logistics services, is purchasing 7 new tractor units and 24 new trailers at a price tag in the region of £1 million.

The major investment by the Southampton based business, will provide the Company with significantly increased capacity to supply its growing operation.

Meachers Global Logistics has taken delivery of 4 Mercedes Actros 2546 LS 6x2 Euro5 and 2 Volvo FH400 6x2 Euro5 tractor units.  A further Volvo tractor and Mercedes Sprinter van will be added to the fleet in January.  The 24 new trailers comprise 20 Lawrence David 14.6 metre curtain sided tri-axle trailers and 4 Lawrence David tri-axle skeletal trailers.

The purchase follows Meachers Global Logistics recently announcing two high profile contracts.  In September this year it extended its agreement with Lionvest the UK's largest importer of wooden flooring and the Company also recently announced signing a 3-year contract extension with Huhtamaki the world's largest packaging company.

Commenting on the acquisition, Stuart Terris, Meachers Global Logistics, Managing Director said:  "We have experienced a strong period of growth in 2013 and this is reflected in our fleet replenishment and acquisition programme.  The move reflects a desire to standardise our fleet and this strategy is expected to produce significant operational benefits to the business."
