sara LBS has supplied a selection of loading bay equipment to a leading UK supermarket chain for use in its store at the Trinity Leeds shopping centre. The supermarket, well known for its quality produce, specified sara LBS equipment based on the reliability of equipment previously installed in other stores. Parts supplied include scissor lifts and dock levellers as well as fire roller shutter doors which have been connected to the store's fire alarm system.
Trinity Leeds opened near the centre of Leeds on 21st March, 2013. The shopping centre, which has 1,000,000 sqft of floor space and over 120 stores, has the capacity for over 130,000 visitors each day. sara LBS has been asked to supply loading bay equipment for the warehouse of one of the centre's flagship stores, a leading UK supermarket that is well known for its premium food and popular clothing range. Having specified sara LBS at other stores, the supermarket chain was aware of sara's reputation for reliability and service.
Guy Windle, Area Sales Manager for sara LBS, comments: "We have supplied loading bay equipment to this customer several times before and they have always been happy with the reliability of our products and the service they receive, both pre and post installation. We were asked for several pieces of equipment including a scissor lift, dock leveller and two fire roller shutter doors."
Because the store would only have one loading bay it was essential that the equipment would operate reliably with no unplanned downtime. The scissor lift was specified with a 2.5 tonne load capacity and the dock leveller, which features a swing lip for easier load transfer, with a 6 tonne capacity. Both products have been well proven in the field before and are known to last for many years of frequent use. For additional protection from reversing vehicles a buffer system was also installed which was attached to a standalone docking plate.
Two fire roller shutter doors were also supplied and wired into the store's alarm system to provide protection in the event of a fire. The doors are electrically operated and can provide four hours of fire resistance / protection. In the event that the fire alarm is triggered the doors will automatically close, with a small time delay to allow the operator to move the lift back inside.
