Palletforce, the palletised distribution network, is sponsoring a celebration of the RAF St Mawgan's 70th anniversary. The network is sponsoring a Proms in the Park event to celebrate the milestone in the history of RAF St Mawgan, based near Newquay.

Palletforce is a network of 88 of the UK's top transport companies, including three in the south west – Langdon Transport in Ivybridge, Devon, Westfield Transport in Truro, Cornwall, and Evans Transport in Bideford, Devon.

"Palletforce has a strong presence in the south west and we are delighted to lend our support to such an historic event," said Dave Holland, Sales and Marketing Director at Palletforce.

"Not only will it be a fantastic celebration of such an important institution, it is also raising money for two brilliant causes - the RAF Benevolent Fund and the Cornwall Air Ambulance."

RAF St Mawgan trains 5,000 defence personnel every year in survival training and provides accommodation for trainees as well as soldiers from the NATO Allied Rapid Reaction Corps.

The Proms in the Park event takes place on September 7 and has a theme of music across the decades from the forties to the noughties. The headline artist is former X Factor runner-up Ray Quinn.

There will also be static aircraft on show, the chance to have a pleasure flight over the coast with the Classic Air Force Team, an RAF Sunset Ceremony and a ceremonial drill demonstration.
