GE-BE Transport's Operations Director Jason Green has raised £3,450 for charity in memory of a friend. Jason, a director at Palletforce founder member GE-BE Transport, walked 105 miles over four days to raise the cash for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
His mammoth challenge – which equates to an average of a marathon a day – was in memory of his friend Paul Collins, who died in 2011, six years after being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.
"This was a tough challenge for me but I really enjoyed it and did better than I expected," said Jason Green, 48, of King's Lynn.
"It has been my aim since Paul passed away to do something in memory of him and I am so pleased that I have fulfilled that goal and raised so much money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
"I am grateful to everyone who supported me and donated money to the cause, I couldn't have done it without their backing."
Jason walked from GE-BE Transport's depot in King's Lynn to the Palletforce Hub in Burton-upon-Trent – and he even had some company for the final steps as Palletforce's Chief Executive Michael Conroy and Financial Director Neil Carpenter joined him for the last five miles.
He set off on Saturday, May 4 and arrived on Tuesday, May 7 – two-and-a-half hours earlier than expected.
"It was fantastic to see Jason arrive at our Hub and we made sure he got a hero's welcome for his superb effort," said Michael Conroy, Chief Executive of Palletforce.
"He has raised a fantastic amount of money for a cause that is very close to his heart and we are all proud of what he has achieved."
Jason gave his feet a rest following the four-day walk and travelled back to King's Lynn with one of his company's trucks as they make daily deliveries and collections from the central Hub.
