Independent supply chain consultants Total Logistics have published a seven-stage guide to developing best-in-class supply chain operations. The free-to-download paper, Principles of Supply Chain Strategy, is written by Bob Gill, director at Total Logistics, who has previously worked on supply chain projects with organisations such as Asda, adidas and Unilever and has over 15 years' experience in the supply chain sector.

The guide clearly outlines the key principles that businesses of any size should consider when putting together a supply chain strategy in order to maximise sales and increase profit. Key principles outlined in the paper include mapping current operations, alignment to business direction and modelling future directions. At each stage practical, expert advice based on extensive work with businesses on supply chain strategies is given.

Bob Gill said: "Supply chain is often overlooked as a strategic consideration in the boardroom; however businesses with excellent logistics that support and enforce customer offers are considerably more profitable."
