Good relationship between BRT (Bartolini) and Vanderlande Industries results in 19th Posisorter order

The close cooperation between the Italian express freight operator BRT (formerly known as Bartolini) and Vanderlande Industries is continuing positively, and has now resulted in the 19th order by BRT for a sortation system from Vanderlande.

BRT's expansion plan means the company will soon open a new hub located in Perugia, the central Italian city that is famous for its chocolate. The sortation system now ordered will form the heart of the new Perugia hub, which will be one of the largest centres in the BRT network.

Proven Posisorter concept

BRT again chose a Posisorter from Vanderlande Industries because of its proven concept. The system will handle up to 8,800 parcels per hour with 9 infeeds and a total of 47 destination chutes. The sorter will be delivered in December 2012, and the new hub is scheduled to go live during the first week of 2013.

High-capacity, high-accuracy sorting of a wide range of products
The Posisorter provides positive high-capacity and high-accuracy sorting of a wide range of products. This horizontal, high-speed sorting conveyor has full-width extruded aluminium carriers on which moulded divert shoes are mounted. These shoes slide across the carriers, pushing the products gently into the output spurs in a diagonal movement. The construction of the carriers creates a closed deck, so that no objects can fall through or become stuck. Maintenance is quick and simple, with a patented 'plug-and-play' carrier design that allows a shoe to be changed in less than 60 seconds, using only an Allen key.
