Expanding UK trade-only distributor Computer 2000 has awarded a rolling contract to Geodis Calberson in Magna Park, Leicestershire, for the storage of 600 pallets of pre-ordered IT products.

Magna Park will act as an overflow for Computer 2000's main site nearby in Lutterworth and orders will be picked and dispatched on a daily basis via the Fortec Distribution Network.

With more than 65 licensees across the UK, Fortec is one of the UK's leading pallet distribution networks and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Geodis Calberson.

Computer 2000 is part of Tech Data, a Fortune 500 top company that is pursuing growth and acquisitions in the UK as well as moving into the consumer electronics market.

Consequently Computer 2000 is looking to expand its logistics operation to meet the demands of increasing sales throughout the UK.

Nicholas Clifton Logistics Director, of Computer 2000, said: "We are always looking for partners to improve and extend the service we offer to our customers, and we are delighted to have Geodis Calberson working in partnership with us as we expand our operations in the UK.

"Their base at Magna Park is conveniently positioned close to our warehousing and the service they provide is uncomplicated and efficient. We look forward to a long and successful partnership."

Jamie Cuthbert, Managing Director of Geodis Calberson, said: "Computer 2000 is an award-winning company committed to excellence and we are delighted to be able to assist them in meeting their customers' demands.

"Geodis Calberson is also expanding its operations in the UK and we hope to be able to work even more closely with them in future."

Geodis Calberson is the UK arm of French-based global logistics group Geodis, the fourth-largest transport and logistics conglomerate in the world. Despite the recession it has successfully grown its operations in the UK and has plans for further expansion.

Established more than 25 years ago, Computer 2000 employs more than 550 people in the UK and was named Distributor of the Year and software Distributor of the Year 2010 in CRN Awards.
