ALD Automotive, the UK vehicle leasing and fleet management company, has announced its ProFleet2 GPS has won the Technology Award in the 2011 Fleet World Honours in London.

Upon presenting the award, the editor of Fleet World, Steve Moody, said: "Since it was first introduced by ALD in 2004, ProFleet2 has been developed to the point where it is now probably the most cost-effective telematics offering for fleets. ALD fits the device to all new cars on fleet and its customers testify freely to savings in time, fuel, repair costs and contract over-mileage".

Installed in over 20,000 vehicles in the U.K. ProFleet2 has recently been enhanced with GPS (global positioning system) functionality, which delivers fleet managers and companies a more robust solution in reducing risk and costs associated with vehicles used for business purposes.ProFleet2 alerts fleet managers by email to driving styles that increase business risk and fuel consumption. These incidents can include harsh braking or acceleration, excessive 'idling' or speed events; driving without breaks or 'out of hours' driving.

Commenting on the award for ALD Automotive, Keith Allen, Managing Director said: "This award represents another significant endorsement of our ProFleet2 solution. In addition, the response that we have had from customers using ProFleet2 in reducing cost and risk has been excellent. ProFleet2 will continue to be enhanced with additional functionality, ensuring that it remains the fleet industry's most cost effective and practical telematics solution."
