Manchester based body and trailer manufacturer the Cartwright Group has launched the latest addition to its family of Cheetah products the Cub!

The Cub is a new 3.5 tonne urban delivery vehicle which can also be based upon a 3.5 to 5.5 tonne vehicle design.

The 3.5 tonne chassis has over a one tonne payload. The design includes a new aerodynamic front mould, side collars and bodywork.

One of the unique features of the Cub is its new rear door loading and unloading feature called the Rampdoor. It has been especially designed for vehicle loading applications and has a simple operation for deployment and stowage. When it is not used as a ramp the Rampdoor operates as a conventional door. It is manufactured from unique lightweight materials and also incorporates a slip resistant surface for safety. It is also suitable for loading trolleys and cages.

Basically it is a door which converts into a ramp and replaces the need for a tailift. It is a new feature which Cartwright engineers believe is a first for the company.

The Rampdoor feature of the Cub is lighter than a tailift by about 80 kilos. The design of the body is lightweight polypropelene plastic core side panels, with aluminium extrusions.

Design features include:-
Rapid deployment
No obstructive mechanism
Safe and secure
100% original floor space retained
Strenuous loading prevented

The Cartwright Group has already received its major first order for the Cub from a High Street retailer even before the new addition to the Cheetah family has been launched.

Steven Cartwright Director of the Cartwright Group commented: "The Cub is a major product development for the company as we increase our exposure to the urban delivery market. We can also design and manufacture bespoke solutions for a wide range of applications in this market place.

"The lightweight features of the Cub together with the innovative Rampdoor option will make this a very attractive product, particularly for High Street retailers.

"We have already received a great deal of interest in the Cub and are confident it will set the standard in the industry with its design and innovative features," he added.
