"We'll be promoting our innovative range of equipment and software," explains Craig Rollason, the company's UK Head of Sales and Marketing, "and talking to visitors about how automation can improve their distribution processes."
On its stand, number 167, the company will be highlighting the benefits of its proven OSR Shuttle range. Combining shuttle-based storage with pick-to-light stations, the OSR Shuttle system achieves up to six times the rate of totes in/out than a traditional ASRS, while having about 20% less footprint and using less than 10% of the energy consumption. Knapp recently celebrated the delivery of its 5000th shuttle, with over 100 customers worldwide now enjoying the benefits of the system and orders for a further 2,000 shuttles already in the pipeline.
Knapp will also be explaining to visitors the benefits of its state-of-the-art vision-directed picking system, KiSoft Vision. This system, which guides pickers to each required pick location by superimposing symbols in the field of vision of the picker, is now undergoing final testing before its release to the market. Comments Craig Rollason, "This solution is set to revolutionise order picking. Goods to be picked are optically highlighted and an integrated camera reads barcodes, lot numbers and serial numbers to confirm the pick without any further human intervention. Accuracy is higher than with voice systems," continues Craig Rollason, "and the system will be launched during 2011."
