Carousel Logistics, a third party logistics provider, have recently invested in a new BestReach Telescopic Boom Conveyor from Best Conveyors to help with their loose loading and unloading processes, aiding their operators to load and unload large trailers quickly, safely and efficiently.
Carousel Logistics have been trading for over 25 years, moving over 2 million items per year worldwide, delivering to 220 countries worldwide operating from their purpose built 75,000sq ft European hub in Sittingbourne, Kent.
In 2004, Carousel logistics invested in a number of PowerFlex and BestFlex conveyors. Best Conveyors are extremely pleased to continue their relationship with Carousel Logistics and to cope with their increasing workload.
A BR4120s machine was chosen due to its short 5m main case that is able to fit within the limited space available in the dock area. The use of this short case allows the BestReach to traverse across the dock area. This provides Carousel Logistics with the flexibility to load and unload using the BestReach machine on any of the dock doors available to them, with a 12m extension, the BestReach can, when fully extended, reach to the end of a 40ft trailer.
The installation is also equipped with Hydraulic Tilt and a Man-Rider Platform. These additions allow the operator to raise and lower the level of the belt at the pick face, providing a safe and ergonomic accessibility to all levels as well as providing a consistent loading height onto the BestReach machine.
Additionally, Best Conveyors integrated the existing PowerFlex conveyors to allow a connection between the two conveyor types and create an integrated loading/unloading system.
