The Road Transport department at Nottingham law firm Rothera Dowson has been identified as one of the best in the country by a prestigious legal directory. It has been ranked on a nationwide basis in the 2011 edition of the Chambers and Partners UK Guide a long-standing publication that recognises the country's leading lawyers and law firms.

Led by partner Anton Balkitis, the department has been recognised for offering expert advice and representation to UK and international transport operators, as well as individual motorists. One client is quoted in the guide as saying: "they give us frequent updates on legislation and will work with you to ensure that you are always acting in your own best interests." The ability of the team to continually deal with the effects of the UK's Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 in regard to carriers' liability provisions is also cited as a major strength. The recognition from Chambers is highly rewarding for myself and the rest of the team," commented Anton. "We have worked tirelessly to build a Road Transport division that truly understands the needs of the road transport industry and the legal implications relating to those operating commercially within it."

This latest accolade follows the department's recent inclusion in the Legal 500, where it was named as East Midlands' regional leader in the Transport category for the fourth year running, and where Anton himself has been recognised as a leader in his field for the last three years. Rankings by Chambers and Partners are ascertained by a series of in-depth interviews with both solicitors and their clients. The guides have been published globally for the last 20 years and were recently named by an independent survey as the most used set of directories to identify law firms.
