New man at the Port of Tyne

The Port of Tyne has appointed Andy Foulds as Commercial Director, Port Services. He will report to Steven Harrison, Chief Operating Officer. Harrison commented: "We are delighted that Andy has joined the team. Andy's strong track record of delivering profitable growth, together with his wide ranging global trading experience complements our aim of taking advantage of the wealth of new business opportunities."


 

As Commercial Director, Port Services, Andy Foulds will be responsible for commercial and business development within three of the port's five business areas:  bulk & conventional cargo, car terminals, and cruise & ferries.
 
A former General Manager with Maersk Line and a graduate of the University of Kent, Andy's eighteen year career has taken him to work on four continents, covering all global trades with an industry leader in the maritime sector. He joins the port from Safmarine, a subsidiary of A P Moller Maersk, where he was Asia Regional Line Director (Singapore).
 
The Port of Tyne is a key player in the Tyne & Wear region; a dynamic trading hub with five business sectors comprising: conventional cargoes; supply chain services (container handling, warehousing, distribution, rail services); car terminals (Nissan and VW Group); International Passenger Terminal (cruise and ferries); and estates (68 commercial and manufacturing tenants, owner of 600 acres on the north and south side of the river Tyne). The Port of Tyne is one of the largest trust ports in the UK and is operated on a commercial basis.
