Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has announced that it is sponsoring the Racing Green Endurance team as a bronze sponsor, as it plans to ship a 150,000 electric car to Alaska, before it embarks on a world record-breaking drive down the Pan-American Highway.

Tackling the notorious route from Alaska to the worlds southern most city in Argentina, the SRZero is powered by two electric motors fed by a series of lithium-iron phosphate batteries. The Racing Green Endurance team will be using power from RV parks, universities, local businesses and peoples homes along the way to keep the car on track for the 16,000-mile expedition. The car will last for 6 hours on full charge and the team claims that it can travel for 310-miles.

Andy Connor, Hellmann UKs Managing Director, said: The challenge set by Racing Green Endurance is an ambitious one but one I have every confidence in them achieving. Its a fantastic project to be involved in and Hellmann are delighted to be sponsoring such a prestigious Sustainability project. Everyone at Hellmann around the world is looking forward to receiving regular updates on the progress of the journey.

Hellmanns support of the Racing Green mission has been spurred on by its own efforts to reduce its CO2 emissions and carbon footprint. In January 2010 Hellmann introduced its single distribution system which links same night consignments from all Hellmann

depot locations to any other location within its network. The system has reduced carbon consumption by 9% in the first 4 months activity resulting in a more efficient transport network for Hellmanns customers.
