Stobart Group wins distribution contract with AG Barr

Eddie Stobart Ltd, part of Stobart Group, the UKs leading provider of multimodal transport and logistics solutions, has been awarded a three year warehousing and distribution contract with AG Barr Plc.

The contract, which will be worth circa 18 million over three years, involves the consolidation of deliveries at the newly created central stockholding warehouse in Crick and distribution by Eddie Stobart to retailers throughout the UK.

Eddie Stobart will move stock by rail from AG Barrs factory in Cumbernauld to the distribution centre in Crick, which will generate significant environmental savings. Operations are due to commence in May 2010.

AG Barr was founded in 1875 and is a major supplier of soft drinks with a turnover in excess of 200m.

Graeme Kay, Head of Logistics at AG Barr, said:
Our decision to partner with Eddie Stobart was based on their networked solution and proven track record of integrating new business. The one stop solution covering both transport and warehouse operations, coupled with further collaboration opportunities, supports our strategy to develop a first class logistics solution to support our business growth.

Andrew Tinkler, CEO Stobart Group, said:
We are delighted to have secured this new business with AG Barr and are looking forward to building a great working partnership with them. This contract also provides an important opportunity to expand our multimodal services from Scotland. As well as delivering day-to-day efficiency benefits for AG Barr through our distribution system, the multimodal offering will also bring carbon reduction improvements.
