Leading transport and logistics provider GEFCO has been brought on board by Kawasaki, the worlds leading industrial and technological business group, to provide a cost effective solution to UK warehousing and distribution of its motorbikes, jet skis, all terrain 4-wheel vehicles and power products that include hedge trimmers, grass cutters and strimmers.

The new contract has seen Kawasaki vehicles being delivered into GEFCOs logistics facility in Coventry where they will be stored under bond in a dedicated area. The products will then be distributed to dealerships using GEFCOs shared user 2Wheeler network. As a result of the new agreement, GEFCO has been able to increase its 2Wheeler network with new moffett vehicles. 14 vehicles, under which a combination of artic and 18 tonner vehicles will be used at peak times, making daily deliveries much smoother and quicker.

Commenting on the new partnership, Kawasakis Anton La Grouw said: GEFCO has proven expertise of working in the 2Wheeler industry and we are very happy with the new arrangement. Not only does GEFCO offer a cost effective solution to house and distribute our vehicles throughout the UK, but they also have the ability to adapt and grow according to our needs.

The new contract makes GEFCO the leading 2Wheeler specialist in the UK, holding approximately 47 per cent of the market share. There are several other large UK 2Wheeler brands also benefitting from GEFCOs shared user network and value added services such as multimodal transport, cradle management and management of warranty returns.

Chris Arnold, UK Network Logistics Director at GEFCO said, We are very excited to have been given this opportunity and are delighted to be working with Kawasaki. As a result of the agreement we have been able to increase our fleet utilisation which now operates more efficiently and we have also seen our warehouse capacity increase by 20 per cent. GEFCO is dedicated to the 2Wheeler market and committed to providing individual customers tailored services to meet their needs.
