Firstgroups Sir Moir Lockhead nominated as President Elect of CILT

The President of The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport in the UK (CILT), Graeme McFaull, Chief Executive of Wincanton plc, has announced that Sir Moir Lockhead OBE, has been nominated as President Elect of the Institute. He will take over the role of President from Graeme in May 2010.

Graeme McFaull said: I am delighted that the presidency will pass to such an excellent ambassador for the transport industry.  Moir Lockhead is a very influential figure in both public transport and freight arenas.  His high profile can only help further the work of the Institute and ensure its place at the heart of the transport and logistics industry.

He added: It has been a goal of my presidency to ensure sector skills are to the fore and I know this is a theme that Moir passionately believes in too.
Commenting on his nomination, Moir Lockhead said: I am delighted and honoured to have been nominated as President Elect of the Institute. Graeme is proving a tower of strength for the Institute and I will work with him to ensure a smooth transition. I look forward to continuing his good work and that of his predecessors.

Sir Moir Lockhead has been Chief Executive and Deputy Chairman of FirstGroup since its formation in 1995. Originally a mechanical engineer, he joined Grampian Transport in 1985 as General Manager and went on to lead the successful employee buy-out of GRT Bus Group PLC. In 1996, he was awarded the OBE for services to the bus industry and in 2008 he was awarded a Knighthood for services to transport.  He is a past President of the Confederation of Passenger Transport.

Graeme McFaull, CILTs current President is a Fellow of the Institute and has been a Vice President since 2003. As well as being Chief Executive of leading European logistics and supply chain solutions provider company, Wincanton plc, he also sits on the Board of BestLog, an EU funded initiative to identify and proliferate best practice in the European logistics sector.
