The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the UK (CILT) has become one of only 25 Awarding Organisations to date to have passed through the Qualifications Credit Framework (QCF) approval process successfully. Over the course of the next year our qualifications will be transferred to the QCF framework.

The QCF is the new way of acknowledging achievement through the award of credits for completed units. It provides more flexible routes to gaining full qualifications and enables progression to be achieved in smaller, bite-sized chunks of learning and assessment.

The framework will enable learners to select from a wide range of generic and specialist units, which means that training can be specific and relevant to their needs. In addition to this we can now offer employers and training providers the option to have their in-house training accredited and awarded on the QCF. The CILT has the facility to support and be involved in the design, award and quality assurance of training.

Within the new framework, learners can bank credits, and these can be combined over time to complete a full qualification. In some cases learners can also accumulate and transfer credits from different awarding bodies. There's also a greater choice of timescale over which to study.
