The Yearsley Group has added to its trailer fleet with the acquisition of 115 refrigerated trailers from Schmitz Cargobull.

The trailers, which have been built at Schmitz Cargobulls recently revamped UK factory at Harelaw, County Durham, were purchased outright by Yearsley and will be used on routes predominantly in the UK although some mainland European work will be undertaken.

A family owned and managed company established in 1955, today the Yearsley Groups business is divided into two main areas the sale of frozen foods to wholesalers, retailers and caterers, and the storage and distribution of a range of frozen foods including raw materials to  manufacturers and finished goods to retailers, wholesalers and other food outlets.

The easy to clean Schmitz Cargobull reefers are particularly suited for the transport of foodstuffs. The box unit is made from Schmitz Cargobulls patented Ferroplast panels which are bonded together to offer the highest standards of hygiene and to reduce maintenance over the trailers working life.

Yearsley has been buying Schmitz Cargobull trailers for some 15 years and a significant proportion of the Groups 340-strong trailer fleet are Schmitz Cargobull products.

We have developed an excellent relationship with Schmitz Cargobull, says Yearsleys transport director, Edward Yearsley. We are always impressed with the build quality of the Schmitz Cargobull product and, of course, this is a significant influence on our purchase decision, he added.

The Yearsley trailers were among the first to be produced on the recently completed multi-product trailer assembly line which is now fully operational at Schmitz Cargobulls Harelaw factory. The new integrated line allows both curtainsider and refrigerated trailers to be built simultaneously and is considered to be the most advanced multi product trailer production line in the world.
