TNT launches South American integrated road network

TNT, one of the world's leading providers of express and mail delivery services, has launched an integrated road network across South America, linking the ABC countries, Argentina, Brazil and Chile.

TNTs South America Road Network (SARN) is claimed to be a fast, reliable, and secure integrated road network linking over 30 cities across 3,000 kilometers in three countries. SARN leverages the companys domestic capabilities in Chile and Brazil following the acquisition of LIT Cargo in February 2009 and Expresso Araatuba last April.

TNTs SARN features an inclusive, secure, door-to-door, day-definite distribution service with expedited customs clearance options. The network offers full track and trace capabilities, supported by a 24/7 real-time Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) tracking system on all vehicles. This allows for high visibility, cargo security and customer service pro-activity. SARNs structure is designed to offer daily departure from all major cities, thereby supporting the shortest transit times and providing the market with the fastest service in the region.

TNT has been able to spread its presence in Brazil and Chile successfully, with outposts in neighbouring countries. Time has come to connect the dots. We offer our customers years of experience in running international road networks as a cost-efficient alternative to air transport. The SARN is the backbone of our strategy in South America, a key market for TNT, says Marie-Christine Lombard, Group Managing Director, TNT Express.

With TNTs South American Road Network, customers in the region now have more choices for their cross-border and inter-regional shipping. The SARN allows them to select a reliable door-to-door service with unrivaled transit time at a cheaper cost than air express, says Curtis Watson, South America Managing Director. In the current economic times, SARN will provide the market with a much needed cost effective solution.

TNTs South America Road Network strengthens the companys core capability and expertise of managing extensive road networks in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. As a one of a kind regional network, TNTs SARN will serve as a strategic initiative to consolidate TNTs leadership position in South America.
