An on-screen dashboard that gives managers live at-a-glance information about their vehicle fleets is reportedly proving a hugely popular feature of Quartixs new Pay As You Go vehicle tracking system.

The display, similar in style to a vehicles dashboard, has dials indicating the percentage of vehicles on road now and on road today,  plus driving percentage and idling time.

Other key performance indicators (KPIs) include graphs and charts. If required, the dials can be tailored to show management information chosen by an operator and more dials can be incorporated. The dashboard is just one feature of the Corporate version of  Quartixs Pay As You Go product, which provides real-time vehicle tracking with monthly untilisation and route reports.

Andy Kirk, the companys sales and marketing director, said: Since last months launch weve had huge interest in Quartix Pay As You Go, and especially in the KPI dashboards available with the Corporate model. Fleet operators tell us they appreciate the way they can see whats happening at a glance: using a shortcut on the desktop means the information is always just a click away. Also, if they need to see their own particular management information we can tailor the dials to do just that, or even add more dials.

Quartix is the first major supplier to offer Pay As You Go telematics. Prior to last months launch businesses were obliged to sign up to fixed-lease periods of typically three to five years. The Quartix system enables customers to track their vehicles online 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Currently, Quartix provides three funding options: outright purchase, lease finance, and Quartix Pay As You Go. With three options the Quartix Pay As You Go system can be tailored to suit an operators exact requirements, from simple tracking through to the Corporate system, which is ideal for large multi-site vehicle fleets.

Kirk maintains leasing is now in sharp decline, whereas just two years ago it was Quartixs most popular method of payment, accounting for 60 per cent of sales compared to 40 per cent for outright purchase. Today, those figures have been reversed. By the end of the year, Kirk believes the companys customers will be split equally between pay as you go and outright purchase, and estimates Quartix will add between 500 and 700 customers. This will see Quartixs customer base increase to between 2,500 and 2,700, with the number of vehicles being tracked by Quartix rising to 28,000.

The company currently tracks more than 20,000 vehicles and its system is in use by companies large and small, including household names from all sectors of the UK economy.
