Agility acquires Mexico-based freight forwarding company

Agility, a leading global provider of integrated logistics solutions, has acquired its longstanding partner in Mexico -- Trafinsa S.A. de C.V. and U.S. affiliate Trafinsa International, LLC strengthening Agilitys existing presence in the country.

Headquartered in Mexico City, Trafinsa operates four branches located in Guadalajara, Monterrey, Laredo (Texas) and Mexico City. The company provides cargo management, air and ocean export, handling, deconsolidation and documentation services to various industries, including cement, food, brewery and automotive.

Our relationship with Trafinsa spans 23 years, over which the company has established itself as a growing freight forwarding player with strong project forwarding capabilities, said Mike Bible, CEO, Agility Americas. By merging operations, Agility customers can take advantage of seamless service to and from Mexico, as well as access to extensive industry-specific expertise.

Trafinsa has created a global import and export footprint via Agilitys network of offices and customers. Moreover, Agilitys broad project forwarding expertise allows Trafinsa to tap into industry verticals in which the company is not currently active.

The merger reflects Agilitys continuing commitment to Latin America, said Eduardo Porter, CEO, Trafinsa. Together, our priority is to offer clients personalized service and practical solutions for their day-to-day freight forwarding operations both here in Mexico and abroad.

Signing and closing of the acquisition took place on April 30, 2009.
