The Cambridge and Newtown (Powys) telematics specialist has been recognised for its cost effective tracking system and dedicated customer care.

The news came, appropriately, as the company was launching its latest cost-saving product, Quartix Pay As You Go.

Making the announcement in Birmingham last week, the institutes awards liaison officer, Philip Leung, said: At a time when budgets are tight across the board, companies operating vehicle fleets need to keep pushing down costs by means of reorganisation or the introduction of new products which can make an immediate and lasting operational impact.

The growing popularity of telematics technology highlights the importance of using monitoring systems to maintain an optimum performance level.

However, its all too easy to get carried away by impressively nuanced gadgetry which comes at too high a price.  A better option in many cases is to go for streamlined functionality backed up by straightforward service and frank advice appropriate to a clients individual circumstances.

Quartix is a company which prides itself on its dependability and no-nonsense approach in supplying cost-effective vehicle tracking solutions.  The awards committee of the institute is delighted to accredit Quartix with the Vehicle Tracking Solutions 2009 title and offers its warmest congratulations to everyone at Quartix on this worthy achievement.

Award notification statement

In its award notification, the institute states:

For fleets owners and operators the challenges of running a fleet have become crystallised in the economic downturn which is hitting the transport industry and business as a whole.  In order to tackle the issue of expenditure in such a climate, businesses must work extra hard to iron out inefficiencies in operating procedures and streamline the activities of each fleet unit, keeping a check on driver and vehicle performance.

By eliminating excessive speed, idling, unnecessary diversions and personal use of company vehicles, fleet operators can improve delivery times, reduce fuel consumption and pare costs down to the minimum.

Usually this is can be achieved most effectively by means of telematics implementation enabling continual data flow and unit management.  Despite the technological sophistication, this need not involve a vast outlay and an ongoing cost burden.

In accordance with its annual accreditation programme, the Institute of Transport Management (ITM) is hereby pleased to accredit the 2009 Vehicle Tracking Solutions Award to Quartix, for its cost-effective tracking system and dedicated customer care.

Quartix was established in 2001 with a view to pushing the boundaries of vehicle tracking accessibility via internet-based resources.  This obviates the need for expensive and complex software or hardware installation and set-up programmes.  The convenience of the implementation is matched by the design of the system, which emphasises function streamlining, selectivity and ease of use.

In fact, all that is required is for the client to take a moment to access the data forwarded by Quartix, either by email or through the company website.  Quartix focuses strongly on keeping costs to a minimum for the customer and operates a zero tolerance policy for the hidden charges which can catch fleet managers off guard.

The concept is simple: the client buys or leases the vehicle terminal and pays a fixed quarterly communications fee.  There are no upgrade costs, licence charges, or add-on fees of any kind.  All this means that GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) vehicle tracking is available from Quartix from only 66p a day.

The company offers three main routes to vehicle tracking capability, the first including live tracking, driver timesheets and route map display; the second offering weekly reports, detailed analysis and geofencing; and the third adding to this: monthly utilization, route reports and data export.

In line with Quartixs philosophy of openness, all associated costs are laid out clearly on the company website and in the literature, along with terms and conditions and details of warranty.

Customer care is certainly firmly at the top of the priority list for Quartix, which makes a point of consulting users of vehicle tracking systems on a continuing basis to try to build on its current offerings.

Feedback on the Quartix vehicle tracking system has been highly positive, and evidenced by a customer base which is expanding across the transport sectors as well as other fields of business and industry.
