CEVA Logistics and Wrtsil expand partnership

Wrtsil, a leader in ship power and decentralised power plant solutions, and CEVA Logistics, one of the worlds leading supply chain companies, have signed an agreement for the outsourcing of warehousing operations for Wrtsils 24/7 global spare parts  activities in The Netherlands.

The agreement follows Wrtsils earlier announcement that it is planning to consolidate the companys spare parts logistics and build a Central Distribution Centre facility in Holland. This new operating model is planned to be fully implemented during 2011. Until this time, CEVA will manage Wrtsils existing Dutch warehouse in Zwolle and will assist in the design planning of the new Distribution Centre.

Since September 2008, CEVA Logistics has also been responsible for managing spare part transportation to Wrtsils various warehousing facilities in Europe and deliveries to international customers. The centralisation of our logistics activities with a specialised partner like CEVA will result in faster and more efficient spare parts deliveries to our customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, comments Tage Blomberg, Group Vice President, Wrtsil Services. This set-up will perfectly support our growth targets in the fast moving business environment to become the most valued business partner of all our customers, adds Blomberg.

CEVA is very pleased to expand its partnership with Wrtsil says Pierre Girardin, Managing Director of CEVAs France, Benelux & Nordics Region. CEVAs industry leading Operations Excellence solutions for Wrtsil have already been recognised with the presentation, last October, of the Lean & Green Award. For us, this is a perfect example of how economics and sustainability come together in logistic solutions. Now we believe that our combination of transportation and warehousing management services will maximise even further our efforts to achieve continuous improvement for Wrtsil and its customers.
