Rugby-based Warrens Distribution has added 12 S.KO Express dry freight box trailers from Schmitz Cargobull to its 100-strong fleet. The trailers will be used on routes throughout the UK and mainland Europe to service long-standing contracts that Warrens operates on behalf of two leading supermarket retailers.

The new trailers will be used to colllect bread and other bakery products from the retailers suppliers before delivering to stillages of product to UK-based regional distribution centres. Because the contracts involve collecting from suppliers based as far apart as Lille in Northern France and Cumbernauld in Scotland, , Schmitz Cargobulls extensive after sales support was a significant factor in the purchase decision as David Cooper, Warrens group transport manager explains.

As the trailers used on the contracts run throughout Europe as well as the UK, it was important for us to have a partner that could provide comprehensive breakdown coverage.  Schmitz Cargobull offer 24/7 breakdown support in 36 countries which gives tremendous peace of mind, he says.

Warrens purchase decision was also influenced by the build quality of the Schmitz Cargobull trailers and the fact that the trailers could be delivered a mere seven weeks after Warrens had placed their  order.

The new trailers were built at Schmitz Cargobulls production facility at Harelaw, near Newcastle-upon-Tyne, using Schmitz Cargobulls patented bolted and galvanised production technique, which involves no welding at all. The box units themsleves are built from Ferroplast modular steel-skinned panels.

David Cooper concludes: Our clients demand the very highest levels of service and therefore we expect outstanding performance from our fleet. The build quality of the Schmitz Cargobull trailers and the high levels of after sales support that the company provides, ensures that we can continue to meet our clients requirements.
