DHL Express UK has announced an average rate increase of 4.5% for shipments in its International business unit, due to take effect on December 1, 2008. The increase has become necessary amid rising operating costs, however it remains below the current UK inflation rate of 4.7%.

DHL International Express UK Managing Director, Alan Cassels, said: Having absorbed the higher operating costs this year, the rate increase is a necessary measure to adjust to the current economic situation. We are announcing this price increase early, in an effort to give our customers and partners a chance to adapt their own business planning for the year to come.

This price increase does not impact domestic shipments delivered by the DHL domestic business unit within the UK.
