Hyundai Heavy Industries Europe (HHIE) has now opened a new branch office at Bracknell, west of London, to serve its growing network lift-truck dealers in the UK.

At the formal opening of the new facility at Bracknell on Friday 18 July, attended by dealers from across the country, Mr. E.Y. Lee, Executive Vice President of the worldwide construction equipment division of Hyundai Heavy Industries, praised HHIE for the excellent progress that has been made in the 16 years since it was established in Europe.

From being a total newcomer to the European market in 1992, Hyundai has become recognised as a major player, with a significant and growing market share, an expanding product line and a reputation in the market for machines which are extremely reliable, productive, and hold their resale values well, he said. This success is also due to the hard work of the dedicated team, under the guidance of Mr. Hwang, and the cooperation of the growing band of loyal dealers.

Mr. J.W. Hwang, managing director of HHIE added: It is true that the most valuable asset in any organisation is its personnel, and our job as principal is to provide the right equipment and resources so that everybody involved, at every level, is motivated and equipped to make their best effort.

We as a company have a strong commitment to quality in everything we do and we like to think that this comes through in both the products we market and the service we provide through our distribution network. It is a team effort, all the way from Ulsan in Korea, to each and every customer in the marketplace. We never lose sight of that as our guiding principle, and we believe that the results which we have achieved in the relatively short space of time that we have been in the market are proof that we are doing it right.

This new facility is a further step in our commitment to the important UK market. It comes in addition to the recently announced massive expansion plans for production in Korea so in spite of the current economic difficulties in many sectors of the global market, we are viewing the future with confidence and planning for continued growth.

The new branch office will provide a centralised administration centre and contact point for Hyundais construction equipment and materials handling business in the UK, and is in addition to the import-stocking facility which was opened last year at Tilbury Docks to shorten delivery times and provide ex-stock availability for some of the most popular models.

Dealer Network
The UK and Eire dealer network is now practically complete, with 12 main dealers for construction equipment, and 4 fork-lift truck dealers covering the specialist materials handling sector. Hyundai participates with dealers in both national and local trade shows throughout Europe, and as the main sponsor of the FIM MX1 Motocross World Championships to promote awareness of new products, the Hyundai brand and its values
