Holly Porter, group marketing director of Wincanton plc, presented Chris Saunders, chief executive of the logistics industrys charity, Transaid, with a cheque for 3,000 at the recent Commercial Vehicle show.

The donation was made after Wincanton plc had received a new trailer built at Schmitz Cargobulls UK production facility at Harelaw.

The cheque represents part of the rental value of the trailer which will be operated by Wincanton for 12 months on routes throughout mainland Europe to help promote Transaid and the excellent work that it undertakes throughout Africa.

Tom Macallan, managing director of Schmitz Cargobull UK Ltd commented: Schmitz Cargobull is delighted to be able to work with our friends from Wincanton for the benefit of Transaid. Transaid works to improve transport services and, subsequently, the quality of life of people living in sub-Saharan Africa and we hope that the trailer will help to promote Transaid to the widest possible audience.
