Whitbread sleep easy with Chase

Although concrete docks were originally chosen to convert the selected 2,000 sq.metre site of Whitbreads Premier Travel Inn distribution centre, Chase Equipments Modular Docking System proved a better and more flexible solution.

Working together with architects and the client to very short timescales, Chase converted the ground level manufacturing site to a distribution centre able to accommodate a number of 40 ton trucks simultaneously, with the ability to decant into small, multi-drop local vehicles quickly and safely. The bespoke system allows for modifications and additions over time if plans change, with minimum permanent disruption to the building.

Two weeks after moving in, a fire in the adjacent timber depot and subsequent damage to Whitbreads own premises, meant that immediate temporary relocation was necessary. The loading docks, levellers, bridging plates and associated equipment, all unaffected by the fire, were moved locally by Chase and the customer was up and running at full capacity again within days.

Steve Guy from Whitbread commented, "We were originally sceptical of the modular dock application and the ability of the product to take the loads and be fit for purpose. Key factors in our decision to opt for Chase were the speed at which they were able to respond and the ability to relocate the equipment easily should it be required. This was unfortunately tested almost immediately due to the fire damage at our warehouse. Chase were able to service our requirements immediately, relocating the modular dock scheme to another location, resulting in little disruption to our live operation. Having worked closely with Chase on this project, I have no problem in recommending either the product or Chase Equipment as a service provider."

Normally driven by Health and Safety, cost and/or flexibility issues, projects of this nature highlight the obvious advantages of the Chase Equipment System total flexibility, improved safety and speedy turnaround of vehicles to name but three. Although bespoke, the system is put together using off-the-shelf modules and is compatible with an extensive range of safety equipment and ancillaries and is available in different load capacities to accommodate roll cages, pallet trucks and forklift operation.

Chase Equipment Limited has a reputation for quality and longevity of product to protect. Whether working on projects large or small, designing to exacting specifications or working with the customer to develop the optimum solution for a given problem, the Chase difference is in the service and commitment to their customers.
