Worlds largest reach truck production line

The company began upgrading the Norderstedt site, which is situated just outside Hamburg, in 2004. At a cost of 40 million euro, the plants capacity has been increased by some 30 per cent and reach truck build quality has been improved significantly.

A modern, ultra-efficient flow line has replaced the previous cell-based manufacturing techniques to ensure that the highest standards of engineering efficiency are combined with the fastest turnaround times. Jungheinrich expects to record its highest ever order intake during 2007, but despite the worldwide upsurge in demand for its products, reach truck delivery times from the receipt of an order are as low as six weeks thanks to the efficiency of the Norderstedt facility.

From the outset we asked what can we do to improve the internal structure of our business to improve efficiency, says Bill Goodwin, sales director of Jungheinrich UK Ltd Our restructured reach truck facility enables us to achieve the highest flow rates while the build quality for which Jungheinrich is recognised has been improved still further.

Hans-Herbert Schultz, managing director of Jungheinrich UK, commented: At a time when a number of the key players in the global forklift truck market are coming to terms with major changes to their businesses, Jungheinrich is fully focussed on delivering the very highest standards of service and product quality to its customers. The dramatic changes to the Norderstedt factory, and the significant investment we have made in the facility, are an indication of our determination to continue to develop the Jungheinrich brand still further. The changes also ensure that this company is extremely well placed to meet the growing international demand for its products.
